Spain’s quality of life, international connectivity, and reputation as a business-friendly country, make Spain an ideal environment for companies looking to establish or expand their presence in Europe. Furthermore, in 2025, Spain is no longer just a tourist destination, it has become one of the continent’s most promising business hubs.

Spain is emerging as one of Europe’s most dynamic economies, offering a fertile ground for foreign companies seeking to expand their operations. According to the European Commission, the Spanish economy grew by 3.2% in 2024, the highest rate among the eurozone’s large economies. Forecasts for 2025 remain equally optimistic, with growth expected to reach 2.6%, more than double the euro area average of 1.2%.

The growth in employment highlights the remarkable progress of Spain’s economy. Notably, over half a million new jobs were created in the second quarter of 2025 alone, according to the Active Population Survey (EPA) released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), reflecting the country’s dynamic economic recovery.

This is a great moment for companies from abroad to enter the Spanish market,” says Maribel Alvarez, Alfombra Roja’s CEO, leading consultancy in internationalization between the Nordic countries and Spain. She adds that “it is essential to count on the advice and support of professionals who truly understand the Spanish market.”

Maribel Alvarez, who also serves as the official delegate for Nordics of IFEMA trade fairs in Madrid, highlights the strategic value of sector-specific trade fairs. “These events are an excellent opportunity to showcase a product or service and start building valuable business contacts,” she notes.

Several sectors stand out as particularly attractive for international companies. Renewable energy remains at the forefront, with Spain positioning itself as a leader in solar, wind, and the development of green hydrogen. Digital industries, including fintech, artificial intelligence, and data infrastructure, are also expanding at a rapid pace. Meanwhile, biotechnology, health, logistics, and sustainable construction are consolidating Spain’s reputation as a country that combines economic dynamism with a strong commitment to sustainability.

The attractiveness of Spain is also reflected in foreign direct investment (FDI). In 2024, Spain ranked as the fourth-largest destination for FDI projects in Europe, with a 15% increase in new projects compared to the previous year, generating more than 34,600 jobs, according to Invest in Spain, according to Invest in Spain. This growth has been supported by European recovery funds (NextGenerationEU), which will inject €163 billion into the Spanish economy in the coming years, strengthening innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation.
